I’ve done some research and thought you might enjoy learning some background on gnomes. There are many different types of gnomes. There are: Woodland Gnomes, Dune Gnomes, Garden Gnomes, House Gnomes, Farm Gnomes, Siberian Gnomes and then of course me. I’m the Travelocity Gnome.
Woodland Gnome: This is probably the most common gnome, however he is not fond of showing himself to people and has many escape routes. He most closely resembles the ordinary gnome.
Dune Gnome: The dune gnomes is a fraction larger than the woodland gnome. He also likes to avoid man. His clothing is remarkably drab.
Garden Gnome: This is the most popular gnome because he loves to live in the garden. Legend has it that the garden gnome will bring good luck to your garden. Mum says this is true.
House Gnome: The house gnome is a special sort. He resembles any ordinary gnome but he has the most knowledge of mankind. He speaks and understands man’s language.
Farm Gnome: The farm gnomes resembles the house gnome but is of a more constant nature and is very conservative in all matters. As you may have guessed he prefers to live on the farm and loves farm animals.
Siberian Gnome: The Siberian gnome has been the most affected by crossbreeding. He is centimeters larger than the European gnome and associates freely with trolls. The less said about them, the better.
The Cap” The cap is made of felt and is solid from its tip to the top of the head. The gnome never removes it except in darkness before going to bed. A gnome child received a cap at a very tender age and keeps it throughout life. Because it is seldom removed, wear and tear on the cap is considerable. Periodically new layers of felt are added to the outside. This work is done every few years with the help of a form molded in the exact shape of the gnomes head.
Males and Females: There are male and female gnomes. Typically you will only come in contact with the male, because the female almost always stays at home.
The gnome life-span is around 400 years. Most gnomes lead healthy lives. They don’t eat to much and get plenty of exercise. The rabbit is the gnomes favorite animal although they are friends with most all of god’s creatures.
My aunt Marilyn gave me this great book. I couldn’t put it down until I had read the book from cover to cover. For those of you who are gnome lovers, I know you will find this book a “MUST HAVE”.
