As you know I just love garage sales. This past weekend my Mum, Aunt Marilyn, Aunt Barb and Aunt Val had their own garage sale in my Aunt Marilyn’s garage. Instead of going to the sales, they came to us. As you can see by the money laying at my feet, all I had to do was stand there and take their money. I’ve been thinking what a wonderful idea this is. Even better than Pop, Mum and I going to garage sales.
First we put out all those things we don’t want any more. We make signs. And since I don’t think signs need more than arrows, that only takes a few minutes. Put the signs in places that are easy to be seen by everyone and then, just like magic, people come with money to buy those things we were going to throw away anyway. How cool is that!
Another thing I thought about is why not let people bring stuff to my garage sale. They could bring something they don’t want anymore and they get to exchange it for something they do want. Of course, what they bring would have to be in really good condition in order to trade and of course it couldn’t be an even exchange. Maybe for every two things they bring, they get to exchange for one. If we didn’t like what they brought, we would just put it back on the sale for someone else. After a little while, I’d have ton’s of stuff to sell.
Now I haven’t talked to my Pop about this yet, but it seems to me if I have a constant running garage sale in Pop’s garage, I could make a lot of money. This would give me something to do while I’m waiting for them to decide where our next trip will be. I have lots of gnome friends who I’m sure would love to help run this sale. One to take the money, one to keep the tables straightened up, and one to just walk around and make sure everyone is being honest. I haven’t asked Grace yet, but maybe she could make coffee and muffins and cookies and stuff that we could sell to make even more money.
