My Day at the Salon (1 Comment)

This past weekend, Mum, Pop and me went to my Uncle and Aunt’s place to plan out our motorcycle trip to Niagara Falls this summer.  While I was there I went to see my Cousin Sherri.  Sherri owns a salon called The Hair Force and she invited me to come to see her newly renovated place.

Since I hadn’t seen Sherri for a while, the first thing she said is “Ernie, you definitely need a trim.  As a matter of fact since you’re here, why don’t we give you the full treatment.  My treat”.

Now I kinda like the way I look.  I’ve had this look for a long time.  My kind don’t typically change their looks.  I really couldn’t see any reason to change now, but I also really like my cousin and she is always up on all the current trends and stuff so I thought what the heck, let’s do it.

Me in the Hair Force chair

Sherri introduced me to all of the stylist’ who work there.  At this shop you can have your hair done, your nails done, your feet done and also get a tan.

So the first thing Sherri wanted me to do was work on my tan.  Since I prefer to wear this outfit most all of the time, most of me doesn’t need to be tan.  Sherri teased me for wearing my cloths into the tanning booth but why go to all of that trouble when the only part of me I wanted tanned was my face.  Sherri gave me these funny looking glasses to put on and told me to stand still and then she shut the door and turned on the lights.  I didn’t like staying in that booth all by myself.  The lights are really bright and what if Sherri hadn’t come back and let me out.

Sherri has this really neat computer in her shop and she can do what’s called cyber imaging.  So they took my picture (minus my cap) and put it into the computer and then they could try different hair styles on me.  Now this was difficult for me because I think I look pretty darn good in most every picture.  What do you think.

While I was trying to decide what style to choose, a manicurist did my nails, (no nail polish of course) and another did my feet.  Boy did that feel nice to just sit back and soak my feet in some nice hot soapy water.  I also had one of the girls trim by beard.

After looking at the cyber imaging pictures over and over again I decided I liked myself just the way I was.  I just had the girl take a little off the top so my cap fits good again and I’ll give more thought to having my hair redone.

Maybe next time.

Salt Lake City (No Comments)

Morman Tabernacle

At Christmas time or any time, I love to listen and sing to the songs by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

On one of our trips we got to stay overnight in Salt Lake City so of course Mum, Pop and I wanted to take a tour of the Mormon Tabernacle.

I don’t have any pictures of me from that tour because Pop thought it might be best if I just rode in his pocket.  Some people don’t understand my kind so they decided I should just keep a low profile.  (That’s part of the reason for this site.  To help people see that we’re just like you, we just look different).  Anyhow I stayed in Pop’s pocket with just my head sticking out.

Mormen Tabernacle

Two very nice ladies took us on a tour of the Tabernacle.  This is a really beautiful church, but what was really neat is that they don’t have to use microphones in the church.  It has a doomed ceiling which makes the sound carry all over the whole church.  One girl went all the way to the front of the church and we sat way in the back and she dropped a pin in a bowl and we could hear it very clear in the back row.  Pretty cool.

They also took us on a tour through the visitors center which had beautiful paintings and sculptures.

By the way, I think one of the girls saw me because she looked right at me and winked.

Mormon Geneology Building

Right before we went to the Mormon Tabernacle Mum, Pop and me went to the geneology building.  At this building, you can search on their computers for your ancestors.

Mum and Pop found some of their ancestors so I decided to try to find mine also.  There was this very nice lady who said she would help me find my ancestors.

She told me to first type in my real Grandpa’s name.  But then I remembered I didn’t know who my real Grandpa or Grandma was or even who my real Mum and Pop are.  That made me really sad.  Everybody wants to have a real Mum and Pop.

But then the lady said, Mum’s and Pop’s don’t always have to look like us.  They just have to love us and want to take care of us.  She said if Mum and Pop wanted to adopt me I must be pretty special.  She’s right, I am special.

Who cares about some dumb old ancestor records anyway.

Phyllis (1 Comment)

Have you ever met someone you instantly liked.  For me it was Phyllis.  She is one of the happiest people I’ve ever met.  Plus I think she really likes me.

Phyllis

Phyllis spends most of her days now in her wheel chair, but that doesn’t seem to get her down at all.  She let me ride on her lap.  Since I usually have to walk really fast to keep up with other people, it was nice of her to give my legs a rest.

If I could pick another Grandma, Phyllis would be it.

My Two Sisters (No Comments)

I have two sisters.  Luckily they both live close by so I get to see them quite a lot.  Both of them like to have gardens like my Mum and they trade plants to each other.  My one sister has a really big yard so she has lots of flowers.

I have three nieces and two nephews.  My one nephew really likes to skate board.  I’m going to ask him if I can ride on it and if he says yes, I will have my picture taken and show you.  My other nephew is really good at video games and sometimes we play games together.

My one niece is really pretty.  She is 14 years old.  She is really nice and I like her a lot.  My other niece is 5 years old.  She’s fun to play with because she likes to run and jump.  My third niece I haven’t met yet but will soon.  I talk to her on webcam though and I can’t wait to see her for real.

My sisters are really good at making things like jewelry and clay stuff.  My Mum said they used to fight a lot when they were little, but now they are really good friends.

My Brother (No Comments)

My brother is very smart.  He has helped me a lot to get this blog started.  When I told him I wanted to do this he said he’d answer my questions, but he wouldn’t do it for me.  At first I was mad at him, but now I’m glad because I’ve learned a lot.

My brother worked and lived in Ecuador for 5 years and before that he lived in Curacao.  Curacao is a beautiful tropical island.  I kinda wish he still lived there because I like to snorkel and him and I did that when we visited him.

Now he lives in California.  He got married to a girl from Ecuador and they have a little girl so now I have a new Sister-in-Law and also a new niece.

Next time he goes back to Ecuador he promised I could go along.
